New MRI-Guided catheter aims to zap heart rhythm problem
NCT ID NCT05904548
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing a new catheter that uses real-time MRI to guide treatment for a common heart rhythm problem called type I atrial flutter. About 91 adults who need this procedure will receive radiofrequency ablation to block abnormal electrical signals. The main goals are to see if the procedure is safe and effectively restores normal heart rhythm.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
RF ablation catheter
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a more precise, safer way to treat atrial flutter using real-time MRI guidance.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage, single-arm trial with only 91 participants. Risks include serious heart complications, and it may not work for everyone.
