Belly fat may predict heart rhythm problems after bypass

NCT ID NCT07467941

First seen Mar 29, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study will observe 300 adults having planned heart bypass surgery to see if the amount of belly fat (measured by ultrasound before surgery) is linked to a higher chance of developing atrial fibrillation, a common irregular heartbeat, after the operation. The goal is to better understand risk factors, not to test a new treatment.
