Scientists hunt for viral clues to protect tiniest Babies' lungs

NCT ID NCT07487259

Summary

This study aims to understand how viruses in the throat and gut of very premature babies might be linked to a serious lung disease called bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). Researchers will observe 40 babies born before 30 weeks, collecting samples in their first three weeks of life. The goal is to see if the types and amounts of viruses differ between babies who develop BPD and those who do not, which could lead to better future treatments.
