NCT ID NCT05890898

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study compared using virtual reality (VR) goggles versus nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to help children aged 4 to 12 feel less pain and anxiety during dental procedures like fillings and tooth extractions. Sixty-two children each had two dental visits, using VR in one and nitrous oxide in the other. Researchers measured pain using standard scales to see if VR works as well as the standard gas.
