First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tested a new virtual reality training program designed to help people with hearing loss improve their ability to locate where sounds are coming from. Researchers enrolled 79 adults, including those with hearing loss and those with normal hearing, to see if the training could reduce errors in pointing to sound sources. The approach uses a 3D motion-tracking system to create sound localization exercises, aiming to address a common complaint among deaf patients.
