First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study tests a new virtual reality (VR) therapy for people who hear voices that others cannot hear, a common symptom in mental illness. The therapy uses computer avatars to represent the voices, aiming to reduce how distressing and frequent they are. Researchers will enroll 112 participants aged 16 and older with a psychiatric diagnosis and persistent voice hearing. The goal is to see if this VR approach works better than current treatments.
