First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tested whether adding virtual reality (VR) and classical music to standard blood pressure medication can help people who come to the emergency room with very high blood pressure (hypertensive urgency). 130 adults with high blood pressure but no organ damage were randomly assigned to get either standard care alone or standard care plus VR and music. Researchers measured blood pressure and anxiety levels over two hours to see if the relaxing interventions improved outcomes.
