Virtual reality game could revolutionize vision testing for retinal disease patients

NCT ID NCT04289571

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study is testing whether a virtual reality (VR) tool can better measure how retinal disease affects a person's ability to move through spaces. About 165 people aged 5 and older with retinal disease and healthy volunteers will use a game controller to navigate VR obstacle courses. Researchers will compare VR results with standard eye exams and questionnaires to see if the VR tool provides a more accurate and easier way to assess functional vision.
