First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests whether using virtual reality (VR) alongside standard pain medicine can better reduce pain in children and young adults with sickle cell disease during a painful crisis. About 76 participants aged 6 to 25 will be randomly assigned to receive either standard care alone or standard care plus VR therapy. Researchers will measure pain scores and opioid use to see if VR provides added relief.
