First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether using a virtual reality (VR) headset during shoulder exercises helps patients feel more engaged and motivated. Fifty adults with shoulder problems will do rehab exercises in a VR environment and then answer questionnaires about how easy and immersive the system felt. The goal is to see if VR can make physical therapy more enjoyable and easier to stick with.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Virtual reality system (Oculus) for shoulder rehabilitation exercises
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that VR makes shoulder rehab more engaging and easier to stick with, potentially improving recovery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study focused on usability and patient experience, not on whether VR actually improves shoulder outcomes. Results may not apply to all patients or settings.
