Virtual reality goggles tested as new weapon against smoking addiction

NCT ID NCT04610931

Summary

This study tested whether a virtual reality (VR) program could help people quit smoking. Researchers created a VR program that safely exposes users to situations that typically trigger the urge to smoke, aiming to help them learn to cope without cigarettes. The study involved 74 adult smokers in France who wanted to quit, comparing the VR program's effectiveness against standard treatments on quitting rates and cravings over one year.
