VR goggles may replace some opioids after surgery
NCT ID NCT07063394
First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether using virtual reality (VR) can lower the amount of strong painkillers (opioids) needed after heart or chest surgery. Sixty patients aged 16 to 40 will be split into three groups: one using interactive VR games, one watching 360-degree videos, and one receiving standard care. The goal is to see if VR can distract the brain from pain, reduce opioid use, and improve recovery.
