NCT ID NCT07415343

First seen Feb 18, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looked at whether using virtual reality (VR) before surgery can help children aged 5 to 12 feel less fear and pain. 74 children were split into two groups: one watched a VR educational animation, and the other received standard care. While VR didn't significantly reduce fear before surgery compared to standard care, children who used VR reported less pain after surgery. The findings suggest VR can be a helpful, drug-free tool to improve kids' experience during surgery.
