New video game aims to boost immune system against breast cancer

NCT ID NCT07357207

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a mobile game called UMAY that helps breast cancer patients imagine their immune cells attacking cancer cells. 80 women with locally advanced breast cancer will play the game or a placebo game at home alongside their usual chemotherapy. Researchers will measure changes in symptoms, mood, and immune cell activity to see if this playful form of guided imagery can improve well-being and possibly help the body fight cancer.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

UMAY video-immunotherapy game (a mobile app game where players visualize immune cells fighting cancer)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a simple, fun way for breast cancer patients to support their immune system and feel better during chemotherapy.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study (80 people) testing a behavioral intervention, not a drug. The effects on the immune system or disease are uncertain, and it may not lead to any medical benefit.
