First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looked at whether showing patients a short educational video before hip replacement surgery could reduce their fear of moving after the operation. 96 adults scheduled for hip replacement were split into two groups: one got the usual verbal instructions plus a video, the other got only verbal instructions. The researchers measured fear of movement, pain, and how well patients moved after surgery. The goal was to see if the video helped patients feel more confident and less scared to get up and move, which is important for recovery.
