Parents' phone videos could spot sleep apnea in kids

NCT ID NCT06801366

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study explores whether short smartphone videos recorded by parents at home can accurately screen for moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in children. OSA causes breathing to stop during sleep and can lead to serious health issues if untreated. The study will enroll 625 children referred for sleep studies and compare the video clips' accuracy against standard tests. If successful, this simple, low-cost tool could help prioritize kids who need urgent diagnosis and treatment.
