Brain-Belly buzz: can a nerve zap improve IBD remission?
NCT ID NCT07636304
First seen Jun 17, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 17, 2026
Summary
This early-phase study looks at whether a device that gently stimulates the vagus nerve (a key nerve connecting the brain and gut) can change brain activity in people with inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's or colitis) who are in remission. Fifteen adults will use the device daily for 28 days and undergo MRI scans and questionnaires before and after. The goal is to understand how the stimulation affects brain networks linked to stress, emotion, and body awareness, not to treat the disease itself.
