Doctors test new ultrasound scan to see inside Kids' veins

NCT ID NCT06695546

Summary

This study tested a new ultrasound method, called the VExUS score, to see if it can accurately measure changes in blood volume in children. Researchers enrolled 67 children aged 1 to 18 who were undergoing procedures that significantly changed their blood volume, like receiving a large fluid transfusion or having fluid removed. The goal was to see if this ultrasound tool, previously studied in adults, works reliably for children in the hospital.
