Brain implant could end debilitating dizziness

NCT ID NCT04918745

Summary

This study is testing a new device that combines a cochlear implant for hearing with a vestibular implant for balance. It aims to see if electrical stimulation can restore a sense of balance in 13 people with severe, untreatable inner ear damage that causes disabling dizziness, unsteadiness, and falls. Participants will use the device first in a hospital, then at home for over a year, to see if it safely improves their vision while moving, walking stability, and quality of life.
