Common heart drug could be key to slowing childhood diabetes

NCT ID NCT07199946

Summary

This study is testing if a drug called verapamil, commonly used for blood pressure, can help preserve the body's remaining insulin-making cells in children recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. It will involve 36 children aged 4 to 10 years old. The goal is to see if this safe, existing drug can help control the disease better and reduce complications by keeping the body's own insulin production active for longer.
