Muscle and protein boost tested to free patients from ventilators
NCT ID NCT05932134
Summary
This study tested whether a combination of a high-protein diet, core muscle exercises, and gentle muscle stimulation could help patients who have been on a breathing machine for a long time get off the ventilator successfully. It involved 100 stable adult patients who had been on ventilator support for over 21 days. Researchers compared groups receiving these extra treatments to a group receiving usual care to see which approach worked best for helping patients breathe on their own.
