Doctors test which ventilator setting saves more lungs

NCT ID NCT07315815

Summary

This study aims to understand which of two common breathing machine strategies better protects the lungs of patients with severe breathing failure (ARDS). Researchers will compare a method that lets patients breathe on their own a bit with one where the machine does all the work. They will measure lung strain and oxygen levels in 20 patients to see which approach is gentler on damaged lungs.
