Could a slower puff save tiny lungs? new trial aims to find out

NCT ID NCT07101419

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looks at how fast a breathing machine inflates the lungs of extremely premature babies (born before 28 weeks). Researchers want to see if a slower inflation is just as good as the current faster method, and if it causes less lung damage. About 68 babies will be tested with both settings to compare their oxygen levels.
