New device aims to stop deadly leaks in ICU breathing tubes
NCT ID NCT06848010
Summary
This study is testing a new device designed to automatically keep the pressure in a breathing tube at the right level. It will compare this device to the usual method where nurses manually check and adjust the pressure. The goal is to see if the automatic device better prevents stomach fluids from leaking into the lungs, which can cause serious pneumonia in critically ill patients on ventilators.
