Study tests if automatic device beats manual checks to stop deadly ICU infections in kids

NCT ID NCT05918172

Summary

This study tested two ways to manage the pressure in the breathing tubes of children on ventilators in intensive care. It aimed to see if using an automatic device to constantly control the pressure was better at preventing dangerous ventilator-associated pneumonia than the standard method of nurses manually checking the pressure every few hours. The goal was to find the safest approach to protect these critically ill children from a serious infection.
