Doctors test ultrasound to spot hidden breathing struggles in ICU
NCT ID NCT07380607
Summary
This study looked at whether an ultrasound scan of the diaphragm (the main breathing muscle) could accurately detect a specific breathing problem called 'double triggering' in ICU patients using mechanical ventilators. Researchers observed 28 critically ill adult patients who were already experiencing this problem. The goal was to see if ultrasound could be a useful tool to help doctors better monitor and adjust ventilator settings for patient comfort and safety.
