Life-Saving drug now in vending machines: community trial aims to stop overdose deaths

NCT ID NCT06429436

Summary

This study is testing whether placing free naloxone (a medication that can reverse opioid overdoses) in community vending machines helps get this life-saving treatment to more people who need it. Researchers will work with three communities to install machines in locations suggested by people who use drugs, then track how much naloxone is distributed and whether fatal overdoses decrease. The goal is to make overdose prevention more accessible and reduce opioid-related deaths.
