Brain vein stent offers new hope for chronic high pressure sufferers

NCT ID NCT06945848

First seen Mar 09, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study is for people with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) who have been on medication for over a year without enough relief. It tests whether placing a small tube (stent) in a narrowed brain vein can lower brain pressure and ease symptoms like vision loss, headache, and ringing in the ears. Half of the 114 participants will get the stent plus standard care, while the other half gets standard care alone. The study will track pressure changes and whether patients can stop their medication safely.
