Light-Up device aims to take the pain out of finding veins in swollen ICU patients

NCT ID NCT06234293

Summary

This study tested whether a special near-infrared light device helps nurses insert IV lines more successfully on the first try in intensive care patients. It compared the light device to the traditional 'feel and look' method in 380 patients whose arms were often swollen from their illness. The goal was to see if the new device reduces the number of needle sticks needed and makes the process easier for both patients and nurses.
