New implant aims to make dialysis access last longer

Summary
This study is testing a small, external support device called VasQ that is placed around a surgically created blood vessel connection (fistula) used for dialysis. The goal is to see if the VasQ implant helps the fistula become ready for use faster and work better than the standard surgery alone. The study will enroll 300 adults with kidney failure who need a new fistula for their dialysis treatments.
