First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looked at whether giving a gradual, lower dose of vancomycin for two extra weeks after the standard treatment can prevent C. diff infection from coming back. About 263 adults who had their first or second C. diff infection took part. Half received a placebo and half received a vancomycin taper, and researchers tracked how many had a repeat infection within 90 days.
