Could a breath test replace painful muscle biopsies?

NCT ID NCT07317921

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study aims to see if a less invasive method (the indicator amino acid oxidation technique) can accurately measure how dietary protein helps build muscle, compared to the current gold standard that requires muscle biopsies. Eight healthy adults aged 18-35 will participate. If validated, this could make future muscle research easier and less painful for volunteers.
