New hope for controlling compulsive Hair-Pulling?

NCT ID NCT05207085

Summary

This study is testing if a medication called valbenazine can help adults with trichotillomania, a condition that causes a strong urge to pull out one's own hair. For the first 12 weeks, participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the study drug or a placebo (inactive pill) to see if valbenazine reduces hair-pulling severity. After that, all participants can choose to receive the active drug for another 12 weeks while researchers continue to monitor safety and effects.
