New hope for aggressive leukemia: drug combo plus transplant targets cure
NCT ID NCT06483906
First seen Mar 05, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study tests a new combination of three drugs (venetoclax, azacitidine, and homoharringtonine) followed by a stem cell transplant in people aged 18-55 with intermediate or high-risk acute myeloid leukemia (AML) who have not been treated before. The goal is to see if this approach can improve survival and reduce the chance of the cancer coming back. Participants will receive up to four cycles of the drug combo, and if tests show the leukemia is cleared, they will proceed to a stem cell transplant. The study will track overall survival at 1 and 2 years, as well as side effects like graft-versus-host disease.
