First seen Feb 18, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tested a non-invasive device that sends mild electrical pulses to a nerve in the ear (taVNS) to see if it lowers stress and distress in university students. Forty students with high stress levels received either real or fake stimulation for five daily 30-minute sessions. Researchers measured changes in stress and distress using questionnaires right after treatment and again one month later.
