Summary

This study tested whether a mild electrical stimulation on the ear (transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation) could help control blood pressure in people undergoing heart stent surgery. 480 adults with coronary artery disease and high blood pressure took part. Half received the real stimulation and half received a sham (fake) treatment, and researchers compared their blood pressure during the procedure.
