First seen Mar 30, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tested whether a non-invasive device that stimulates a nerve in the ear (transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation) can help young athletes recover more quickly after exercise. Forty healthy amateur football players aged 18-25 participated. The researchers measured breathing function and perceived fatigue to see if the stimulation improved recovery compared to no stimulation.
