Zap your ear to bounce back faster? study tests recovery hack for athletes

NCT ID NCT06566118

Summary

This study tested whether a gentle, non-invasive electrical stimulation applied to the ear could help young athletes recover faster after sports. Researchers worked with 40 healthy amateur football players to see if stimulating a major nerve (the vagus nerve) through the skin could reduce feelings of fatigue and improve measures like breathing after exercise. The goal was to find a practical tool to help athletes feel less tired and perform better in their next training session or game.
