New swab test could speed up vaginitis diagnosis
NCT ID NCT07607470
First seen May 26, 2026 · Last updated May 26, 2026
Summary
This study will collect vaginal swab samples from up to 1000 women with symptoms of vaginitis, such as itching or unusual discharge. The goal is to develop and validate a new diagnostic test called the Nanopath assay, which detects infection-causing germs without needing to amplify their genetic material. Researchers will compare the test's accuracy to standard lab tests and also check if self-collected samples work as well as those collected by a doctor.
