Scientists trace the family tree of vaginal bacteria
NCT ID NCT06912126
Summary
This study aims to understand where the community of bacteria in the vagina comes from, how it might be shared between close contacts like family and partners, and how stable it is over five years. Researchers will recruit 500 participants in Belgium, organized into family and friend networks, to collect swab and stool samples and answer questionnaires. The goal is to gather foundational knowledge about this important aspect of women's health, not to test a treatment.
