New pill aims to treat anemia in dialysis patients

Summary

This study tests the safety of an oral drug called vadadustat, taken three times a week, for treating anemia in adults with end-stage kidney disease who are on hemodialysis. About 2,200 participants will be randomly assigned to receive vadadustat or a standard treatment. Researchers will track hospitalizations and deaths to see if the new dosing schedule is safe.
