First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a short online training called VA S.A.V.E. helps family and friends of veterans recognize suicide warning signs and connect them to professional help. Over 700 participants who are close to a veteran will take either the training or a general mental health video. Researchers will track how often they ask about suicidal thoughts, recommend treatment, or share crisis hotline information.
