Iced sponges tested to stop dangerous bleeding after C-Sections

NCT ID NCT02910115

Summary

This study tested if cooling the uterus with iced saline-soaked sponges during a cesarean section helps it contract better. The goal was to see if this simple technique reduces blood loss, decreases the need for extra medications, and lowers the risk of needing a hysterectomy in women with difficult, stalled labor. The study was terminated early after enrolling only 8 participants.
