First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study tests whether hearts from donors with hepatitis C can be safely given to people without hepatitis C who need a heart transplant. Twenty adults with end-stage heart failure on the transplant waiting list will receive such hearts and be treated with antiviral medication to prevent or cure any infection. The goal is to see if this approach is safe and effective, potentially increasing the number of available donor hearts.
