ER study aims to replace CT scans with quick blood test for aortic emergencies
NCT ID NCT07640334
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Aug 06, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether combining a risk score (ADD-RS) with a D-dimer blood test can safely rule out acute aortic syndrome (a life-threatening tear in the aorta) in emergency room patients. About 448 adults with symptoms like chest or back pain will be enrolled. If the combination shows low risk, patients may avoid a CT scan, reducing radiation and speeding up care.
