Can a natural supplement tame prostate cancer? new trial investigates
NCT ID NCT06022822
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This phase 2 trial tests whether a daily supplement called urolithin A can lower oxidative stress in prostate tumors. Ninety men with prostate cancer will take either urolithin A or a placebo for 3 to 6 weeks before their prostate removal surgery. The main goal is to see if the supplement reduces a marker of cell damage in the tumor tissue.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Urolithin A supplement
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a simple dietary supplement that helps control prostate cancer by lowering cell damage.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-phase trial testing a biomarker, not a cure. The supplement may not affect the cancer itself, and results may not lead to a treatment.
