Doctors challenge common practice: is that Pre-Stent removal urine test really necessary?
NCT ID NCT04913753
Summary
This study investigated whether performing a routine urine culture test before removing a urinary stent (called a double J catheter) actually helps prevent infections afterward. Researchers followed 2,200 adult patients who had their stents removed to see if those who got the standard test had fewer infections than expected. The goal was to determine if this common medical practice is truly beneficial or if it leads to unnecessary antibiotic use and delayed procedures.
