Pee test could spot hidden thyroid cancer, avoid unnecessary surgery
NCT ID NCT05463107
First seen Apr 14, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looks at whether proteins found in urine can help doctors diagnose follicular thyroid cancer before surgery. Currently, the only way to confirm this cancer is by removing the thyroid and checking it under a microscope. Researchers are testing urine samples from 50 people with thyroid nodules to see if certain protein markers can accurately detect cancer, potentially avoiding unnecessary operations.
