Pee power: new urine test could spot kidney cancer without a needle
NCT ID NCT04053855
First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study is looking for a better way to diagnose clear cell kidney cancer. Right now, doctors use scans and sometimes a biopsy, which can be expensive and invasive. The researchers are testing if tiny particles called exosomes, which are shed by cancer cells into urine, can be detected to diagnose the disease. They will collect urine samples from 100 people with kidney masses and compare them to healthy controls to see if this 'liquid biopsy' works.
