Tiny trial aims to unlock secrets of brain cancer resistance

Summary

This small study looks at how the drug tucatinib enters and acts in the brain in people with HER2+ cancers that have spread there. Researchers will compare genetic differences between cancers that have become resistant to tucatinib and those being treated for the first time. Nine participants take tucatinib before brain surgery, and the removed tumor tissue is analyzed. The goal is to understand resistance, not to test a new treatment.
