New study aims to uncover the link between straining and hemorrhoid bleeding

NCT ID NCT07161765

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looks at why straining during bowel movements may cause hemorrhoids to bleed. Researchers will use a special device to test how well the rectum can empty, which may help identify people who could benefit from treatments targeting pelvic floor muscle problems. About 100 adults who have had a colonoscopy for rectal bleeding in the past year will take part.
